The key patent in the additive 3D printing is owned by the Polish company VSHAPER

One of the most important moments in 3D printing is stable and durable fixing of the first layer of the print to the surface. Very often users of 3D printers use quite expensive and harmful chemicals (which is absolutely unacceptable in the case of medical prints).

VSHAPER company has developed and patented an innovative working platform for 3D printers that allows you to resign from the use of chemical substances that increase adhesion.

This solution introduced to VSHAPER printers has a significant impact on the comfort of working with the printer and reduction of operating costs, as well as the aspect of ecology in 3D printing.

Innovation of the VSHAPER solution is based on the use of heated by the resistance heating element aluminum platform, additionally equipped with a vacuum system for fixing working surfaces. Milled from cast, internally stress-free aluminium, the base plate ensures that the working surface remains flat even when heated to high temperatures. Moreover, this solution guarantees a constant surface temperature even when printing with intensive cooling of the model material.

 

 

In order to obtain high quality prints, it is necessary to keep the air temperature in the printing chamber at an elevated level. The VSHAPER solution is based on the simultaneous use of: a heated working chamber and a heated platform with easily replaceable working surfaces, adapted to individual model materials.

The application of such a solution allowed to reduce the temperature of the printing chamber required for the proper embedding of the first layer of the printout on the working surface, as well as further additive production of models using the method of depositing molten material, which results in lower demand for electricity while maintaining the highest quality of prints.

Easily replaceable work surfaces allow not only to reduce costs, but also to radically reduce the time needed to remove a printout from the printer and thus reduce the time between printouts to a minimum.

The removable work surface system also allows the table material to be perfectly matched to the printed material so that models can be easily and quickly removed from the work surface without risk of detaching from the work surface during the printing process. As a result, printers equipped with vacuum table VSHAPER avoid the use of chemical adhesion substances, without which printing on glass tables is hardly possible. No need to use the above mentioned substances has a very positive effect not only on the comfort of using a 3D printer but also on the environment by eliminating the emission of organic solvents and other compounds used in the production of adhesion enhancing substances.

The metal platform is equipped, apart from the grooves for vacuum distribution, with a resistance heating element and a soft peripheral gasket ensuring low vacuum losses at the contact point between the platform and the replaceable working plate.

In addition, the working platform is equipped with an energy-saving vacuum generation system based on an ejector. This system switches off the ejector when the desired vacuum is reached to allow the working plate to adhere properly to the platform and constantly controls the vacuum in the system. Thanks to this, even very low capacity, the compressor is able to provide enough compressed air to operate the system.

The purpose of VSHAPER’s introduction of the above solutions was to ensure quick and easy replacement of cheap working plates while ensuring flatness and uniform temperature of the working plate, as well as low operating costs, including low power consumption. As a result, the comfort of working with VSHAPER printers has been significantly increased and the range of offered materials has been extended, while maintaining low operating costs of the printer and even reducing them.
